Ambivalence is a cold mistress

This month’s augury comes with force and motion, driving through shadowed lands. Yes it is August, and that time of the month again where I lay down a handful of cards on the table and give a brief overview of the month ahead. And this month feels good. We are out of the dense mire of summer yet not completely out of its effects.

The fellow here driving the chariot onward looks back, as do his two steeds, so our attention and drive is somewhat at odds here with our movement forward, which is curious. Moreover, just as we plow through the thicket ahead, our attention behind us, we arrive at the edge of the waters once more, the waters that played a central theme to July. Those muddy waters. Reconciliation is inescapable. Even as we locate our force, we need to re-conciliate whatever was unearthed the month before with it. Just as the dogs bark at the moon, awash in restlessness, so we continue to carry the weight of revelations.

If you found July to have been a heavy, muddy month. Consider, what was uncovered that you now carry as weight? Perhaps this is dead weight? Weight that needs to be put to rest? As I turn over the pack of cards to glimpse at the bottom card, the 2 of swords greets the path with exactly this, reconciliation.

This is the lesson that greets the charioteer in his moving car. Reconcile the depths with your motivations, so that despite the lack of clarity ahead you won’t loose your way in the shadows.

From a positive perspective, things are moving forward and it is propitious to plow ahead with projects, and work, and plans. Keep building what you started months ago.

The warning, or nudge, is to reconcile any lurking ambivalence. There really is no need, nor value, in dragging uncertainty onward. Place your sights and your drive to the now, not the past, and not the future, but the now, and keep driving the car.
